 Started a new painting yesterday morning...BROKEN III. It took several hours just to get it drawn onto the paper. Had to start twice because I didn't graph it out the first time and proportions were going off. Finally the painting process...for now, is going well. The image above is what was accomplished yesterday. The image below is what has been done this morning.
In order to get the details of the broken Blue Willow tea cup, I used a quill pen, but instead of using ink with the pen, I simply dropped small puddles of watercolor onto it's tip and used that color for the details. I started doing this several years ago, back in the early 1990s, when I did a series of folded quilt paintings. I used it again in the vintage toys and comic series.

Doing detailed watercolors takes a lot of time, but knowing simple techniques makes it a little easier.
