ABUNDANCE....watercolor 13" x 13" square
Each time I start a painting, I look for something in the subject or the process that will be a challenge. With this one the biggest challenge was working on hot press paper. I usually use Fabriano soft press, which allows for layer of washes. Hot press does not allow much of that at all! After a few layers, you start to lift off what went before....frustrating! You get to a point where "it is what it is!" Leave it and on to the next challenge.

HONEYCRISP & STONEWARE
11 1/2" square
Honeycrisp  seems to be at the top of the list of favorite apples in our area. It's apple season in Michigan and they are everywhere!, including in my kitchen!
The challenge with this still life was to paint the stoneware bowl to look like stoneware. There are as many as fifty layers of color in the bowl.
Colorfully yours,
Sandy

PLUM CRAZY
watercolor, 13" x 14'
Completed today. This iris is one of four new ones I planted in the garden late last summer. I love the blue beard each petal has. In certain light the deep velvet plum falls take on a blue sheen.
Colorfully,
Sandy

BLUEBERRIES AND BUTTERFLIES
watercolor 11" square
The Monarch and the Question Marks butterflies are visitors to my garden. They are the perfect companions for the blueberries...complementary colors always go well together. The blueberries are from a farm just up the road from our cabin.
Cplprfully,
Sandy
