I completed the portrait of 'Mom". It was a wonderful experience, creating this piece, especially as we just celebrated the feast days of All Saints Day and All Souls Day (also known as the Day of the Dead in Mexican culture). As I worked on it November 2nd, I almost felt as if I were amid all the celebrations that were being held that day! What a wonderful tradition, celebrating the lives of loved ones who have passed on! This is my tribute to Florence (Emerick) Havermale, a lady who always had joy in her heart, even after having 10 children and raising 7 of them to adulthood. She lived to be 90 years old.
