I was away from the studio much of yesterday, but this morning...progress has been good.

January 25
It took me most of the morning to get the drawing onto the watercolor paper. Now the fun has begun...playing with color. This one might be titled, 'One Lemon', or possibly 'A Sour Note'....or something totally different. Titles seem to work their way into being as the works progress.

It's done! I'm sure that you are aware of my attention to details. As I was completing the background, lace tablecloth, I realized that I was putting too much detail in that area and needed to back off. The center of attention is the broken bowel and it's broken content of eggs. So I lifted off some of the crochet detailing and now I am calling it finished.

It's very close to being completed! Still have detailing to do in the tablecloth and the wood of the table.....and a few touches in the bowl. Check back tomorrow.

Here is another progress image. There is so much detailing to do. My goal is to make the objects I paint, look as real as possible. That means capturing the very tiny and subtle variations of colors and shapes.

The bowl was a gift from my youngest daughter. As she was wrapping it, to ship to Michigan, she dropped and broke it. Sadly she called to tell me what a wonderful gift it would have been......
I encouraged her to send it anyway, and what a delight it has been! This broken bowl has inspired many new painting ideas which would never have come to me if it had not been dropped. Oh, what a happy accident! Oh, what a beautiful gift! Thanks Penny.

Started a new painting last Monday. It's of a broken Flo-blue bowl. I used it a few years ago for a painting called BROKEN. This one will be BROKEN #2. Check back in a day or two for progress image.
