From the studio of Sandy Meyer

FRESH EGGS, Watercolor, 17” x 15”
You have seen this vintage toy truck used in many other paintings. He has been one of my favorite actors among the many objects used in my still life paintings.
Here , it holds a bird nest which was found in one of my lilac bushes. The builder of the nest had raised its brood and flown south for the winter.
As I was preparing an egg dish, it occurred to me that they could make an interesting contrast in size and color, if placed in the nest.
Colorfully yours,
Sandy

Blessings have fallen on me! BROKEN II was accepted into the regional Winter Art Festival Juried Exhibit at Gallery Uptown in Grand Haven, MI. The opening was this evening and now I am humbled to tell you that it won three awards. I thank the juror, Art Martin for his award, J. Morgan Ltd Jeweler for their award, and Great Lakes Dental Excellence for their award. Of course a special than you goes out to Gallery Uptown for sponsoring the annual competition. They have offered artists of West Michigan the opportunity to challenge their creative abilities for 20 years. Most of all, I thank the Lord for the gift of talent which he has given me, and all the patrons who have encouraged me along the way.

Started a new watercolor to be called "On Top of the World."
The dove is carved from wood and positioned on top of a sphere. Another gift from my daughter, sent to me several years ago. I've made many sketches of it, hoping to do a painting, but it just never felt quite right. This time it feels good.
